    CLEAN-LABEL, ORGANIC RICE STARCHES

A&B Ingredients helps dairy manufacturers reduce fat and formulate clean-label dairy products with Oryzamyl organic native rice starches and Lyckeby Careful clean-label, process-tolerant corn, and potato starches. Organic rice starches can help maintain a creamy, rich texture in low-fat dairy products and remove artificial thickeners from the label while improving the nutritional profile. Due to its small granule size, rice starch serves as a natural fat replacer. In clean-label yogurt, yogurt-based spreads, and dairy desserts, functional corn, and potato starches can replace modified starch and aid in maintaining desired product texture under high heat and shear. Additionally, new innovations in the CytoGUARD line have been shown to help inhibit yeast and mold spoilage and help keep dairy foods fresher longer, the company says.

    ORGANIC PLANT-BASED PROTEINS

Farbest Brands announced its expanded line of organic plant-based proteins. Beyond being USDA-certified organic, the ingredients are Non-GMO Project Verified, vegan, gluten-free, halal, and kosher. The company’s options include pea, soy, and rice proteins, along with novel proteins such as mungbean, favabean, chickpea, and pumpkin. Ideal for protein fortification and emulsification, these high-quality organic plant proteins are suited for applications such as beverages and dairy analogs. The company says it also can provide organic traceability documentation for all of its organic-certified plant proteins.

DANCE A JIG FOR HONEY FIG

FlavorSum launched a new Natural Honey Fig flavor for dairy applications. The lightly floral fruit flavor delivers a balance of sweetness and creaminess in ice cream or yogurt. Adding pistachio bits as an inclusion or topping contributes just the right amount of saltiness to the experience. Tastewise.io reports the globally influenced flavor is surfacing in social conversations as an indulgent and fun taste, with discussions up more than 6% in the last year.

    PEANUT, PEANUT BUTTER CHIPS

Global Organics’ clean-label Organic Peanut Butter Chips contain four simple organic ingredients: peanut flour, coconut or cane sugar, cocoa butter, and salt. They are certified organic, kosher, and non-GMO. Made without soy, dairy, or artificial flavors and preservatives, the chips are high in fiber, protein, and potassium. The cocoa butter in the formula creates a tempered chip that is shelf stable and solid at room temperature. They remain soft and hold their flavor in ice cream and are meltable for drizzles and swirls. Additionally, the Organic Peanut Butter Chips are available sweetened with either organic cane sugar or organic coconut sugar, the company says.
