Pumpkin, apple and caramel season is upon us, which means seasonal flavors are hitting store shelves all across food and beverage categories. Fall flavors are no stranger to the dairy aisles, as many dairy processors have new and returning fall-inspired flavors available throughout the holiday season. We’ve highlighted several new dairy products below.

    Yogurt and butter products

Norwich, N.Y.-based Chobani’s limited batch fall flavors hit store shelves nationwide in August and are available through November. New this year is a caramel apple blended flavor (low-fat apple Greek yogurt blended with caramel). This flavor joins pumpkin spice blended and Flip pumpkin harvest crisp, which was introduced last year.

A 5.3-ounce serving of the apple flavor contains 140 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, 17 grams of sugar and 11 grams of protein.  The suggested retail price is $1.25.

Land O’Lakes, Arden Hills, Minn., added a limited batch pumpkin pie spice-flavored butter to its Land O Lakes brand. The butter is made with brown sugar and pumpkin pie spices. It’s sold for a suggested retail price of $2.49. The butter is available in select retailers nationwide for a limited time through November, depending on supplies. Read more about this product here.

Stonyfield, Londonberry, N.H., added a new limited-edition pumpkin flavor to its Oh My Yog! line, available through December, 2016. It's available nationwide for a suggested retail price of $1.59 for 6-ounce cup. It contains 170 calories, 5 grams of fat, 24 grams of sugar and 7 grams of protein per 6-ounce serving.

    Ice cream products

Tillamook County Creamery, Tillamook, Ore., introduced two new seasonal special batch ice cream flavors:

    • Pumpkin Cookie Butter (spiced pumpkin ice cream mixed with speculoos cookie pieces)
    • White Chocolate Peppermint Bark (white chocolate ice cream mixed with peppermint crackle and bark pieces)

The pumpkin flavor contains 170 calories, 8 grams of fat, 20 sugars and 3 grams of protein per 1/2-cup.  The ice cream is available through December. The suggested retail price is $4.99 to $5.99 per 56-ounce container and items are currently on shelves at major grocery retailers in the Pacific Northwest, including Fred Meyer and QFC.

Cold Stone Creamery, Scottsdale, Ariz., launched pumpkin cheesecake ice cream, creme brulee ice cream and a pumpkin cheesecake ice cream pie (pumpkin cheesecake ice cream in a graham cracker pie crust, topped with cinnamon frosting and drizzled with caramel).

The frozen treats are available for a limited time only as part of the company's special promotional creations:

    • Pumpkin cheesecake ice cream can be mixed with Heath Bar, caramel and whipped topping to create the new Harvest Pumpkin Cheesecake Creation.
    • The creme brulee ice cream pairs well with blueberries, strawberries and caramel to create the Creme Berry Brulee Creation.

The fall ice cream flavors are available through Nov. 24, 2016, and the pumpkin cheesecake ice cream pie will be in stores and online from Nov. 3 – Nov. 24, 2016.

    Milk-based products

Dipping into the caramel fall trend, Carlinville, Ill.-based Prairie Farms introduced single-serve flavored milk in a salted caramel flavor, along with its new chocolate and peanut butter flavor.  The single-serve lineup is available until mid-2017 with a suggested retail of $1.29 per 16-ounce bottle.

The company’s other fall-inspired milk flavors in the quart size are returning as well. The quart lineup flavors are: Spooktacular egg nog, peanut butter chocolate and pumpkin spice. Read more about the company’s new flavored milks here.

Dunkin’ Donuts, Canton, Mass., added salted caramel-flavored coffee, lattes and macchiato to its line, available for a limited time at Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants. These are served both hot and cold. The suggested retail price is $1.89 for a medium hot coffee, $2.89 for a medium hot latte and $3.09 for a medium hot macchiato. The flavor is available through the end of the year.

The company also brought back its famous pumpkin menu for fall, which includes pumpkin coffee, lattes, donuts and other baked goods.

Kellogg's, Battle Creek, Mich., is bringing the pumpkin spice craze to its Kellogg's NYC cereal café. The café is offering the new Pumpkin Spice Latte bowl as a limited-time menu item. It's made with espresso powder and white chocolate chips on top of limited-edition Frosted Mini-Wheats Pumpkin Spice cereal. It's served with a choice of milk-base, including whole, skim, soy and almond or Greek yogurt or soft serve ice cream.

To add to the fun, bowls ordered with whole or skim milk will come with steamed milk so customers can pour it over their cereal to enjoy a latte-like experience. The cereal bowls are available until October 31, 2016.
